Day 15 - The Journey Home

As we have the whole day before our 9pm flight, we decide to have a drive around the island once more.

This time, we take in a visit the Adventure du Sucre on the way to the airport. A fascinating place and in some ways would have made a good place to visit early on in the holiday as it encapsulates the history of the island very well.

The roads around here and across to the airport are different somehow and more ‘countrified’.

We have a last ‘ Brown Sign’ stop at an old French cannon emplacement, and then continue off to the airport.

After yet again having a few problems with finding the hire car guy we are sorted and ready to fly. The flight is long and bitterly cold. And Blighty is blighted with horrid weather.

But we had just had the most wonderful break. The journey was worth it. Loved it.

Days 10-14 - Same Old Sun Sea and Sand

(Written afterwards)

As suspected, nothing changes much.

It's a brilliant beach holiday lounging in the garden, swimming in the sea, swinging in the hammocks, and generally relaxing.

Day 9 - Resorting to Realxation

You can tell it’s been okay because it’s been three days my last log entry.

It turns out that the hotel is much better than that first night might have suggested.

The food has been consistently excellent.

The garden and beach have been the perfect places to recharge and we are very, very happy.

We go on snorkelling trips each morning and see wonderful marine life– today we saw a turtle!

Then we settle in the garden which gently transforms into the beach, and then into the Indian Ocean which is warm and welcoming.

We’ll be heading home soon and nothing is likely to change – that’s the best bit. More when the routine changes  – probably on Friday the day/night we fly home
